Printing
At our studio, we specialize in two exquisite printing techniques: Letterpress Printing and Foil Printing, each offering a unique and luxurious finish. We also offer digital printing as an optional add-on for your stationery.
LETTERPRESS
Letterpress printing utilizes either handset type or a custom photopolymer plate to create a stunning debossed (pressed in) or embossed (pressed out) impression of images or text on paper, with or without ink (called “blind” letterpress).
Each color used requires a separate plate and setup. Letterpress works well with medium to dark inks on lighter paper and provides a matte finish.
This technique, executed on our 1952 Original Heidelberg printing press, produces a beautiful 3D effect that invites touch. Letterpress is ideal for wedding stationery, small business branding, personal stationery, and any paper product where you want to add a touch of elegance.
FOIL
Foil Printing, on the other hand, employs a heated chase system to bond a metallic foil onto the paper, creating a stunning matte or shiny finish.
This technique also requires one colour at a time, with each colour needing a separate foil block and setup. Foil is ideal for light colours on dark paper, such as white on black.
This process also uses our 1972 Original Heidelberg printing press, resulting in a refined look that enhances the visual appeal of your projects. Foil printing is perfect for embellishing wedding stationery small business branding, personal stationery, and virtually any paper product that you want to make truly eye-catching.
“I’ll definitely be using you guys for any letterpress work in future & send all my recommendations your way!”

We offer a variety of uncoated paper stocks from suppliers worldwide.
For letterpress printing, we recommend Crane Lettra, which is 100% cotton and specifically designed for this technique. It is available in two thicknesses: 300gsm/110lb and 600gsm/220lb, in either Pearl (warm white) or Fluro (bright white).

For foil printing, we find that Colorplan works particularly well; it comes in 55 colors and various thicknesses.

If you plan to send your design files for printing, please look at our Artwork Setup Guidelines.
-
We do, but only as an add-on when you order letterpress or foil printing. If you are after fast, cheap printing we are probably not the right fit for your needs.
-
Yes, you can keep your foil blocks and letterpress plates once we finish your printing. This typically applies to single-run jobs, like wedding invitations. For jobs that we might reprint in the future, like business stationery, we prefer to keep the plates. This allows us to reuse them many times, saving you money on future reprints.
