Artwork Submission Guidelines


FILE SET UP FOR LETTERPRESS & FOIL PRINTING

For optimal results in letterpress and foil printing, your artwork must be set up carefully.

Please keep the following in mind:

File Formats: Vector files work best. We recommend using Adobe Illustrator or InDesign for your designs. Avoid Photoshop, as bitmap images tend to produce less crisp results. Large areas of solid color or reverse-outs are also not recommended, as letterpress excels with text and line work.

Text Size: All text must be no smaller than 8pt.

Line Thickness: All lines and strokes should be no thinner than 0.5pt.

Convert to Outlines: Ensure all text and shapes are converted to outlines or paths.

Color Setup: Color should be set to 100% black (CMYK values: C=0, M=0, Y=0, K=100). For letterpress, please specify the PMS Uncoated color(s) you wish to use (note that ink is mixed by hand). For foil printing, indicate the foil color required.

File Format: Provide a print-ready PDF file with crop marks and a 3mm bleed for each color or part you want printed.

Reference PDF: Include a composite PDF for reference when aligning two or more colors.

  • To receive a quote, please fill out our contact form.

    Please note that a quote does not constitute a booking until it has been formally accepted and payment has been made.

    Upon acceptance of your quote, a 50% deposit is required before any custom design work can commence. The remaining balance must be settled prior to printing. For printing-only orders, full payment is required before we proceed.

    Payments can be made via credit card, direct credit, or PayPal. Account details are provided on the issued invoices.

  • A 25% non-refundable fee will be applied for bookings canceled within 24 hours of payment. Cancellations made after this period will incur a 50% non-refundable fee.

    In the event that your plans are disrupted due to COVID-19 and printing has already begun, Windmill Press will offer a 10% discount on reprints scheduled for a later date, and your deposit can be transferred. If you choose not to rebook, the deposit will remain non-refundable.

  • Any design produced from a picture or photo of a product created by another designer or printer will only be reproduced by Windmill Press as our interpretation. It will not be an exact replica of the original.

    As letterpress printing is a handcrafted process, please be aware that ink colors may vary slightly from print to print.

    If you encounter any issues with your items, please notify Windmill Press within 24 hours of receiving your order.

    All artwork created by Windmill Press remains the property of Windmill Press.

    We reserve the right to photograph all printed material for use on our social media platforms and website. Please rest assured that no personal information, including wedding venues or dates, will be posted online until after the event has occurred.
